Tutoring Services for Students
Tutoring Key Stage 3 English (Years7-9)
One-to-one or online tuition for students in Key Stage 3, individually tailored to the student’s specific needs, delivered by a highly experienced teacher. Sessions will build the skills students need in order to flourish in English and develop confidence and enjoyment.
For students taking the English Language exam for the first time or for those needing to retake, sessions will be focused on giving the student models and frameworks to show them how to answer the Reading questions, as well as practising ways of effectively approaching the Writing section. Lessons will give them the tools they need to tackle the examinations with confidence.
Whatever the student’s ability, sessions will be tailored to their particular requirements and designed to help them achieve the grades they desire. Lessons will focus embedding or extending the student’s knowledge of the prescribed texts, how to write effective examination responses and how to approach revision effectively.
For students struggling to bridge the gap between GCSE and A Level, needing help with specific aspects of the course or wanting to be stretched to reach the highest grades, sessions will be designed to help each individual student reach their potential, develop a confident critical voice and enjoy studying English at A Level.
Whether students are writing the NEA for their A level course, their undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation or just want to submit accurate, fluent essays which show off their ideas in the most articulate way, they can have them proofread by a meticulous marker with many years of thorough marking experience.
Students may need help to write their Personal Statement for UCAS applications, need feedback once they have written a draft or need help meeting the 4000-character count. All the support and help they need is available from a former UCAS coordinator and Head of Sixth Form.

Whether your English department has to cover staff absence in the short-, medium- or long- term, A Level lessons can be delivered, fully resourced and all marking and reporting undertaken by an experienced and successful A Level teacher and former Head of Key Stage 5 English.
Any internal English marking accepted for Key Stages 3,4 or 5 and carried out in a thorough and timely manner by a qualified teacher and careful marker. Marking can include comments and targets if required.
If English departments need schemes of work and lessons prepared and resourced which are bespoke to their specific requirements and the particular lesson expectations within their school, these can be ‘made to measure’ by a teacher with years of teaching experience and knowledge of what works well in the classroom.
Whether your school wants to offer one-to-one or small group interventions, sessions will cater for any ability and secondary age group. Focusing on the particular needs of your students, lessons will concentrate on building knowledge and practising skills so that the students’ proficiency and confidence grows in English.
Workshops can be tailored to the specific needs of the school – either introducing the Personal Statement at the beginning of the UCAS process or sessions where students can write under the guidance of an experienced UCAS coordinator and previous Head of Sixth Form.
