Client and Student Responsibilities

  • (“Client” refers to the person booking the tuition or service. In the case of children under 18, the Client refers to the parent who is booking the service; for students over the age of 18, they can book tuition themselves and therefore may be the Client and the Student)
  • Clients must ensure that all personal details and contact information are accurate and up to date.
  • Clients must ensure that they have given me enough information, including their correct address, to allow the lessons to take place.
  • It is the client’s responsibility to ensure I am given the correct information about course titles and examination boards.
  • If a lesson is to take place at the student’s home, the client must provide a suitable setting for tuition which must include a table/desk, separate chairs for me and the student and adequate lighting. Tuition cannot take place behind closed doors.
  • If Clients have a dog, this must be kept out of the room where the lesson is taking place.
  • Where possible, clients must ensure that a responsible adult (who is not the tutor) is present in the house when a lesson takes place at the client’s home or for online lessons for all Key Stage 3 or 4 students. The responsible adult should be within Sight or Sound of the student during their lesson. I cannot stay beyond the arranged lesson time to supervise students.
  • Clients and students should be aware that, when lessons take place at my house, there will sometimes not be any other adults present. Parents can stay in a waiting area in the house if they prefer.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring that they have the correct equipment to be able to access online lessons.
  • Clients/students must ensure the student has a copy of any examination texts at their disposal for all lessons. I cannot provide books for students.
  • Students and clients agree to not use any means to record lessons. This includes storing or sharing them.
  • Clients must ensure students are on time for lessons. Time missed through lateness cannot be added onto the end of a session.
  • Clients and students must be appropriately dressed for all lessons; I reserve the right to refuse to teach the student if they are dressed in a revealing or offensive manner and the lesson fee will not be refunded.

Payment

  • All lesson prices will be published on my website as well as being shared with clients when they make an initial booking.
  • All payments must be made by the client at least the day before the lesson. If payment has not been received, the lesson will not go ahead.
  • Bank transfer is my preferred method of payment.
  • Where an increase in a lesson fee is proposed, notice of such increase will be emailed to all clients.
  • A ten percent discount will be applied where clients are able to pay in advance on a termly basis (i.e. the whole Autumn term) The discount will only apply where clients book and pay for lessons in the first 4 weeks of each term (i.e. first 4 weeks of September, January and after the Easter break)
  • For online lessons that students do not attend, clients will be charged the full lesson fee, provided the Tutor attended the online classroom for at least the first 15 minutes of the lesson’s scheduled start time. No charge will be made to the client if a tutor does not attend for at least the first 15 minutes of a Lesson.
  • If a student does not attend an in-person lesson, the client will be charged the full lesson fee.

Cancellation

  • A student or client may cancel a lesson at any point before the scheduled start time of a lesson and must notify the tutor by phone or email.
  • Cancellations made 6 or more hours before a lesson is due to commence will incur no charge; if the client has prepaid for the term’s lessons, the tutor will reschedule where possible or deduct this lesson fee from the next term’s payment; money cannot be refunded if lessons are cancelled with less than 6 hours’ notice.
  • In rare circumstances, I may have to cancel a lesson at any time prior to a lesson taking place. To do so, I will inform the client and/or student directly via email and WhatsApp/ text message. In the event of me cancelling a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or, if the client has prepaid the lesson fee, a full refund will be given.
  • Bookings cannot be cancelled after the lesson has started. Lessons which are not cancelled by the student before the start time but are not attended by the student will be charged at their full price. If there are extenuating circumstances surrounding the lesson cancellation, then a full refund may be made at my discretion.
  • Clients who wish to terminate tuition and have prepaid for the term and received the 10% discount, will not be entitled to a refund.
